What Are The Preparations Before Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetic)?
While preparing for rhinoplasty surgery,
- Laboratory tests will be done for anesthesia
- If there are drugs that you use daily or routinely, they will be adjusted before anesthesia.
- You will be asked not to smoke 1 week before the surgery until 1 week after the surgery.

What Are The Stages Of Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetic) Surgery?
Rhinoplasty surgery includes the following steps.
1 – ANESTHESIA
Medications are administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. Intravenous sedation or general anesthesia is administered. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you.
2 – INCISION
Rhinoplasty can be done with the closed technique or the open technique. In the closed technique, the incisions are only inside the nose, while in the open technique, an incision is made from the tip of the nose (between the tip of the nose and the lips). Thanks to these incisions, the skin covering the nasal bones and cartilage is gently lifted to reshape the nose.
3 – STRAIGHTENING THE CURVED SEPTUM
If the septum is crooked, it can be straightened and the septal protrusions in the nose reduced to improve breathing.
4 – RESHAPING THE NOSE STRUCTURE
In the larger parts of the nose, bone or cartilage structures are reduced, thereby providing an aesthetic appearance. In most of the nose surgeries, cartilage tissue is needed during reshaping. These cartilage needs are met by the cartilages removed from the reduced cartilage structures or the structure in the middle of the nose called the septum. Rarely, cartilage need is met from ear cartilage or rib cartilage.
5 – CLOSING THE INCISIONS
After the cartilage and bone structure in the nose is shaped into the desired shape, the nasal skin and tissue are covered over the bone and cartilage again and the incisions are closed. If the nostrils are large, new incisions can be made where the nostrils meet the lips and the nostrils can be reduced.
6 – RESULT VIEW
Silicone pads can be placed inside the nose. If changes are made in the bone structure, a nose plaster is applied.
What Awaits Me in The Recovery Period After Rhinoplasty (Rhinoplasty)?
If silicone pads are placed in the nose during the recovery period, the pads are removed within 2-3 days. Thanks to these tampons, which allow you to breathe through the nose, patients have a more comfortable post-operative period. It is much easier to remove than cloth tampons and is done in a short time.
If a nose plaster is applied to the patient, this plaster is removed in 5 to 7 days. After the plaster is removed, taping is done to the nose. These bandings can be repeated twice with an interval of 3 days. Rarely, plaster is removed and a new plaster application is needed. Nasal sutures are removed on the 5th day after surgery.
While most of the swelling will decrease within a few weeks, it may take longer than 6 months for your new nose structure to fully settle. During this time, you may notice gradual changes in the appearance of your nose.

What Are The Risks of Rhinoplasty (Rhinoplasty)?
Making the decision to undergo plastic surgery is extremely personal. You must decide whether the result of rhinoplasty will meet your wishes and whether the risks and potential complications of rhinoplasty are acceptable to you.
