These are interventions made to soft tissues without touching the jawbone. A more pronounced chin contour can be achieved by applying filler to the chin tip and along the chin line. There is no need for anesthesia for this procedure, which is performed in office conditions without the need for a hospital, and the results are seen immediately after the application. Since filling applications are temporary applications, they must be repeated after 2 years. In particular, the chin tip can be made more prominent by oil transfer to the chin tip. With fat transfer, the fat tissue taken from another part of the body by liposuction is transferred to the tip of the chin after some procedures. After this procedure, some of the transferred adipose tissue (approximately 40%) will melt. However, the part that does not melt remains in the place where it is transferred for life.
This procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia and must be done in the hospital. Fat transfer is often made to other areas of need of the face in patients who are considered for fat transfer. Examples of these areas are under-eye grooves, cheeks, temples, cheekbones and lips. Please ask your surgeon which areas on your face you need fat transfer.
The location and size of the chin can be changed surgically. This surgery, also called genioplasty, is performed under general anesthesia. The chin tip can be moved forward, backward, left, right, down or up as needed. The chin tip can be filed or bone additions can be made. The result of the surgery is permanent. Another alternative to make the jaw line more prominent is the use of implants. The jaw line can be made clear by applying implants to the chin tip or chin corners, depending on the need or the patient’s preference. This surgery is performed under general anesthesia and the results are permanent.
These are the operations performed on patients who have impaired relationship between the lower and upper jaws and have problems in mouth closure. In these patients, surgical procedures called orthognathic surgery or single chin and double chin surgeries, which regulate the closure of the chin as well as the aesthetic appearance, are performed. The patient may need orthodontic treatment before and after orthognathic surgery. Surgery can be applied to only the lower jaw, only the upper jaw, or both. In these applications, forward, backward, upward, downward or forward and backward removal processes are applied to the lower and upper jaws according to the needs of the patient. When the jaws are placed in their new places, they are fixed with titanium plates. Since the jaws of the patients are replaced with their teeth in orthognathic surgery, the relationship between the upper and lower teeth of the patient improves after the operation.
