Eyelid aesthetics is a surgical procedure applied to improve the aesthetic appearance of the eyelids. Upper eyelid aesthetics or lower eyelid aesthetics can be done separately, or both can be done together in the same session.
The aesthetic problems of the eyelids can be basically in two ways.
With eyelid aesthetics, if there is excess skin, it is removed or hung around the eyes. Excess fat bags are removed.
For eyelid surgery:
The eyelid consists of 4 structural layers: skin, muscle, fascia and fat packs… In the upper eyelid; There is a fat pack on the inner and midline, and a tear gland on the outer line. On the lower eyelid; There are oil packs in the inner, middle and outer lines.
In upper eyelid aesthetics, the upper eyelid is anesthetized with local anesthesia. After the skin is removed, some of the underlying muscle is removed. The inner and midline fat packs are reached and some of the herniated fat packs are removed. If there is sagging in the tear gland, it is hung up. The skin is closed with dissolvable sutures and the procedure is terminated.
Lower eyelid aesthetics is performed under general or local anesthesia. Skin and muscle are removed. The inner, middle and outer fat pads are reached and some of the herniated fat pads are removed. Afterwards, some of the excess muscle and skin is removed. A taut lower eyelid skin is obtained by hanging a part of the skin on the edge of the eye. The skin is closed with dissolvable sutures and the procedure is terminated.
The incisions made for surgery in eyelid aesthetics are designed to hide the scars in their natural structures in the eyelid area. Therefore, in most patients, there is no obvious scar.
Most patients complete the healing process within 10-14 days. However, full recovery may take several months.
As the swelling and bruises disappear after eyelid surgery, the shape of the eyelids emerges; face gains a more vigorous and youthful appearance.
After eyelid aesthetics, antibiotic creams and cold compresses can be applied. You will be given specific practices that may include how to care for your eyes, medications to aid healing and the potential for infection, any special concerns you need to watch out for at the site of surgery or for your general health, and how to use them to follow up with treatment.
